This Weeks Happenings on Obama's Blog

When you first jump on to the main page of the blog, the first thing you see are all the little blurbs about how well Obama did in the Presidential Debate last night. To listen to the full podcast of the debate, click here: http://2008central.net/2008/10/15/2008centralnet-presidential-election-podcast-101508/As you look at the side toolbar, you can click on all of the events that happened during that past week, and a screen will pop up and tell you all you wanted to know about that certain event. Below the rave reviews of Obama's debate, they have an entry about Obama's trip to Londonberry, New Hampshire where he talked about the issues and promoted himself.

As we keep scrolling, we can watch a video of Joe Biden's press tour, but also then read the articles that had mention Joe Biden and the campaign. Right in the middle we can see a new commercial that Obama's team wanted to air. The link to watch it on youtube is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zv7TU_2-Igg. Towards the bottom of the page, there is an e-mail from Barack Obama, and then the last thing on the page is a video of Obama's closing argument in the debate. overall there was a lot of things that happened today alone, so there was no other room on the first page for information from the rest of the week. If you wanted to find out what happened earlier in the week, you can just click on the numbers at the bottom of the page.

Presidential Blog

The blog that I will be following for the rest of the semester is http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/hqblog

This is the blog for Barack Obama. When you first get to the home page, there are all the recent articles that wrote about Obama and what he has been doing. From there, there are many links at the top of the page where you can learn about the candidates and their families or read about the issues and Obama's stance on those certain issues. Also there are links where you can see what new ads are out on tv, read his speeches, or just learn about all the information pertaining to your home state and the Obama campaign. Going down the right hand side of the blog, there are links to other sources such as where you can donate money to the cause, register to vote, supporters of Hilary Clinton and what they can do to help get involved and other general links for getting Obama information.

This blog is different from the other blogs that i have looked at in many different ways. The other blogs that i looked at don't have as many outside links that they can go to. Also on Barack Obama's blog, there are many different pages that you can go to and look at. On the others they are pretty much the one blog on the one topic. Also, there are different types of media on the "professional" blog such as newspaper articles, movies, and commercial ads. Also, you really can't find the opinions of Obama, except on the issues page. The other blogs it is all one persons opinion.

The issue that i choose to look at was Obama's stance on education. On the issues page, he outlines the problems that he sees with the way that education is now, then he outlines in bullet form by groups like early childhood education, k-12, college, and the plan to recruit new teachers. At the top of the page, there is a spot that you can click on to send your own ideas on what you think should be in Obama's plan. Since i want to become a teacher, this is an issue that concerns me. I like that on the right hand side of the web page you can click on a link and read John McCain's stance on whatever issue you are looking up. I think that the manner that he presents his ideas and his beliefs, and the way that he is going to propose change if he is elected is very understandable and easy for teens or people who might not know that much about politics to follow and read.
